MORE ABOUT SMILEY FACE FARMS

I started gardening as a father son project using bottled synthetic nutrients to grow medicinal herbs and food to help with my medical treatment. Using synthetic nutrients was such a headache for years and expensive to boot. I was in the garden center every other week spending money on pH pens, ppm meters and all the extra additives needed to nurture a successful garden. My son I knew there had to be a better, cost effective way.

My son was the first one to make the switch to no-till gardening and then on to natural farming. I followed suit about a year later. At first I was to scared to throw away all my bottles of synthetic nutrients and wrap my mind around not having to pH or know my ppms anymore. I didn’t get it at first. I didn’t realize I was force feeding my plants instead of just making food available to them when they needed. So I mixed up my first soil mix and let it cook (no not in the oven, lol) then I added some worms and cover crop and went from there learning with each grow and crop over the years.

Then I move on to the natural farming. I learned to make LAB (lactobacillus) first. My son actually taught me all the steps to use the rice wash water. Then I started making some fermented plant juice (FPJ) and fermented fruit juice (FFJ) with different plants and fruits. Bananas are high in Potassium (K) so they work in bloom and pineapple has bromelain which is an enzyme that can help break down amendments in the soil to make them more plant available. Nettles are a great FPJ or plant extract high in Nitrogen (N) and comfrey is a great FPJ or extract with lots of NPK value and minerals it pulls from deep in the soil.

My son and I went on to learn to mix and create our own cost saving inputs/extracts over the years that worked well not just for medicinal herbs, but my veggie garden became a great asset as well. In the midst of all the learning I decide to try to offer back to the community some of my small batch products for your gardening needs. Slowly as we get product descriptions and ingredient labels together we will have those products available to the community here on the website.
